Why I cannot select a specific cycle path?

Summary

The route planner does not allow you to manually select a specific designated cycle track (such as a EuroVelo route). Instead, the Cyclers planner automatically calculates your journey by evaluating multiple factors, prioritising low-traffic roads, safe infrastructure, and smooth surfaces. Because of this intelligent approach, there is a very high likelihood that the planner will guide you along your preferred cycle path, provided it is the safest and most efficient option.

Step-by-step instructions

If you want to check whether the suggested route follows a specific cycle track or long-distance route you have in mind, you can easily inspect the map layout:

  1. Generate your route in the route planner.

  2. Locate the white panel at the top of the screen.

  3. Tap the "eye" icon on this panel.

  4. This will temporarily hide the colourful route overlay, allowing you to clearly see the underlying map details, street names, and official cycle path markings to confirm your route matches the designated track.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Will the planner automatically choose bike paths?

    • Yes, there is a high likelihood that the planner will choose a route that includes bike paths, as it natively prioritises low-traffic routes and smooth surfaces.

  • Can I force the planner to use a different route?

    • While you cannot select a specific path directly, you can adjust your routing preferences in the settings or add intermediate waypoints to steer the planner toward your preferred cycle tracks. Free users can draw changes up to three times per route, while unlimited drawing is available exclusively for Plus subscribers.
