What is Auto-pause and how does it work?

Summary

Auto-pause is a feature that automatically pauses your ride recording whenever you stop moving — for example, when resting or having a coffee break. Once you start riding again, the recording automatically resumes.

This ensures that breaks and resting time are not included in your total riding stats (such as average speed and ride duration).

How Auto-pause works

  • Time trigger: When your GPS position remains stationary for a short period, Auto-pause activates automatically to stop recording your ride time.

  • Automatic resume: As soon as you start moving again, Auto-pause automatically turns off and recording seamlessly continues.

  • Manual override: You can also manually unpause recording at any time simply by tapping Continue on the navigation screen.

Troubleshooting Auto-pause issues

Occasionally, you might experience issues where Auto-pause does not resume automatically when you start moving again. Here are the most common causes and solutions:

  • Battery Optimisation / Low Power Mode: Aggressive battery-saving settings on your phone may limit background GPS updates. Make sure battery optimisation for Cyclers is turned off or set to Unrestricted.

  • GPS Accuracy: A weak GPS signal (e.g. under dense tree canopy, inside buildings, or between tall structures) can delay the app from detecting movement.

  • Walking or low movement speed: If your moving speed is very low — for example, when pushing your bike uphill or walking — the app may not detect enough speed to automatically disable Auto-pause. In these situations, we recommend manually tapping Continue to resume tracking.
