Reporting errors in navigation and map data

Summary

If the application leads you through impassable areas or unsuitable terrain, you can report the error directly from the route details, by long-pressing a location on the map, or while using navigation by using the detour feature to report and recalculate your route.

Step-by-step instructions

Although we are constantly working to improve the planner, there may be situations where the suggested route passes through a fenced area or a path unsuitable for bicycles. These problems usually stem from inaccurate map data.

Option 1: Directly in the app (Android)

1. In the Planner section, open Route details.

2. Tap on Report issue.

Option 2: Reporting a specific closure (Android & iOS)

1. On the Map, long-press your finger on the specific segment where the problem is.

2. Select Report and then Warning.

Option 3: During navigation (Android only)

If you encounter an issue directly while using navigation on an Android device:

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the navigation menu.

  2. Choose Find detour.

  3. Select the relevant reason for the detour (e.g. missing path, overgrown path, bad surface, etc.).

  4. Optionally, add your comment and attach a picture of the location.

  5. Tap the Find detour button to submit the report and recalculate your route.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Should I also report differences in surface?

Yes, if the displayed surface, slope, or traffic density differs from reality, your feedback is very valuable.

  • Can I fix map data errors myself?

Yes. Since Cyclers uses OpenStreetMap data, you can report or fix map errors directly on https://www.openstreetmap.org/. Once submitted, the changes usually take from a few weeks to a couple of months to appear in the app updates.
